Happy New Year, readers!!!!! I’m allowed to address you guys as readers now because I recently hit over 100 subscribers, many of whom I don’t know. Although one hundred may not seem like many, it’s exciting and fun and scary-yet-motivating considering my goal when I launched this was to have 8 subscribers. (My mom, Emily, Valerie, Jack, Anne, and maybe 3 Twitter friends.)
I don’t have much to say other than that 2024 feels good. I’ve always loved even-numbered years, as they’ve been some of the most significant years of my life thus far. I’m still working on my definitive New Year’s resolutions as I like to take my time with these. I’m still practicing my 2017 resolution of taking the stairs instead of the elevator and my 2019 resolution of eating slowly and my 2020 resolution of prioritizing 8 hours of sleep and my 2022 resolution of writing more, so clearly, New Year’s resolutions are of serious matter to me.
So far, a big theme of 2024 for me is dinner.
Cooking a hearty dinner, sharing prolonged meals with friends, trying new restaurants, closing down the restaurant (apologies to anyone who was at the Polo Bar on October 26), and hosting dinner parties are all at the top of my wishlist this year. Last weekend, I had dinner with my friend Kelly at Pardon My French in the East Village—PMF is the only place Kelly and I have dinner together, and we only ever have a corner table. It’s fabulous. Our reservation was for 8:30 PM, but after we had finished eating, we moved to the bar and stayed at the restaurant until well past 11 PM. We didn’t run out of things to talk about. We didn’t run out of people to talk to, either. It was all very chic. That’s what my 2024 is about.
Thank you for reading<3
P.S. — I started a Spotify playlist which I’ll update weekly for your Friday listening: LoF Radio if you care to follow. (Listen in order!!!!) xo
we’re closing down so many restaurants in 2024 !!!!!!
Love the continuation of the yearly “resolutions!” By definition a resolution is a firm decision to do something (or not do something) and you really live by that! So fun!
