This really hit home - that feeling of being trapped by your own "brand" or how others perceive you is so suffocating. I completely relate to overthinking how every little thing might be interpreted, especially when you're trying to balance being authentic with maintaining some version of yourself that feels "acceptable" to everyone around you.
But here's what I keep reminding myself (and what your friends helped you realize): at the end of the day, most people are way too caught up in their own lives to scrutinize our every move the way we think they do.
Sometimes we need to crash out in order to find our way back to what actually matters. Thanks for being brave enough to share the pissed-off list alongside all the beautiful moments - it makes the joy feel so much more real and earned.
DAMN sameeeeee, april is always my favourite (sorry September) but this year everything just sucked and i didn't want to write either and i wanted to let my little substack die too but then one little thing after the other, it got a tiny bit better. enough to make a list of things i did enjoy - like this article
Absolutely loved this! Pissed off is such a fun way to describe things too. Also loved this line “I should stop worrying I might disappoint someone else before I end up disappointing myself. Wouldn’t that be tragic!” Because that is something I need to remind myself all the time
April is always tough. I just remind myself that every year!!
so true....
Heavy on the “Pitchfork rated Djo’s new album a 5.9. That pissed me off.” because they didn’t even give it a chance it’s suchhhh a good album
YEPPPP

it's crazy how many people have shared the same sentiment—i don't know what it is but i'm glad we're all coming out of it <3 xx
felt this so much
Also struggle with the out-of-work brand thing vs how I show up at the office. Good to know I am not alone in this!
