I used to read Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret every week before school started. This tradition lasted like six years. Perfect August book. Member of the Wedding by Carson McCullers is another August book.
This was such a gorgeous and fun and lovely and I’m sorry to be here asking such a boring logistical question at the end of it…but does a laptop fit in the magical coach bag?
Really enjoyed this roundup. "We must—we must—we must increase our bust!" omg memory unlocked I randomly think about this line at least 5x a year even though it's been over a decade since I read the book. I also loveeee the pink rotary phone. There's just something about that type of phone that's so chic and alluring.
august when you are an adult is a month of sweaty rest and leisure- which is one of the few things that sucked as a kid that is great in adulthood and that’s so beautiful
oh how i love this. i teared up a little at the line about sweating through your new dress. there is something so sweet about discussing the wear and tear on new clothes, like a comment a back-to-grade-schooler would make ("I got ketchup on my new shirt, mom!"). it just went so nicely with the nostalgia I felt reading this. as a recovering hamster-wheel honor student, this hit me hard and good. thank you thank you thank you. and i'm typing this on my computer which is why it's an essay at this point. anyway, LOVED IT!
Thank you - this is so needed!! August can be the beginning!! As a Leo, I heavily cosign. Also, if you're a cookie fan I *highly* recommend the Ferrero Rocher cookie at Michaeli Bakery. OMG.
Thanks—I was ready to pull a lid over summer but now I’m inspired to get out and try things
yay—this makes me happy to hear :) as you should!
